Upcoming:
Three-month Personal Growth Intensives
Beginning Summer 2025, I am offering three month "personal growth intensives" for people who are interested in working on a specific issue or goal but who do not need or wish to be in long-term therapy. Not every goal requires long-term therapy and a lot of growth can happen in three months, especially when you're focused on your goals and are truly motivated to grow and change as a person (rather than wanting change to happen to you).
Three-month intensives involve twelve 75 minute "deep dive" sessions, beginning with a session focused on setting goals and intentions for the time. Halfway through, we'll take part or all of a session to revisit to those goals and assess where we're at in the process. Each week, we'll focus with intentionality on what you're hoping to work on. Depending on how "intense" an intensive you want, I can also suggest homework in the form of actions/behaviors to try out or prompts to journal about based on what we work on each week. At the end of the three months, we will reflect together on what changed for you and work on setting intentions for yourself moving forward.
The main goal with the intensive is to offer a meaningful option for people who don't want to be in therapy for a long time and who would like to work with a therapist who will support them in pursuing their goals in a time-limited, intentional fashion. If you feel torn between the three-month personal growth intensive and traditional 75 minute sessions in a more flexible way, I can help you decide based on what your goals are. Or, we can do a median approach where you start with the three-month intensive and plan to use that as a "deep dive" to get started and then continue on with traditional therapy as needed afterwards.

"Art & Talk" Anxiety Therapy Group for Teens
Build connection, resilience and flexibility to cope well with anxiety through this "art-and-talk" therapy group.
WHO:
Teens age 15-17 who experience anxiety or social anxiety and who would like to grow in their ability to manage their anxiety effectively. No artistic talent required! The art will be guided activities aimed to support teens in processing anxiety.
WHAT:
An in-person anxiety therapy group for teens that involves creating art together both as a way of processing anxiety and of creating a welcoming, safe space to talk and share with one another. This group will be rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). It's not "art therapy" but rather, art will be incorporated into traditional anxiety group therapy. The art will be mostly done with colored pencil.
Each week, there will be a different topic and art prompt. Some topics/projects may include a values drawing activity (exploring how anxiety relates to living your values), drawing what your anxiety looks and feels like to you (practicing feeling difficult feelings and gaining more awareness of the role of anxiety in your life), illustrating how you respond to your anxiety (noticing both avoidance & acceptance responses and how you feel after each); an anxiety banner in which you "decorate" an anxious thought (a "cognitive defusion" exercise, learning to notice a thought without being overpowered by it), and a values-compass (setting intention post-group for living well with anxiety). Each of these activities will draw on the core flexibility processes of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is an evidence-based form of anxiety treatment.
WHEN:
Thursdays 4:15 PM- 5:45 PM from July 17th to August 21st
WHERE:
At Kathleen's office in West Mount Airy (7058 Germantown Ave). Note that this office is not wheelchair accessible; it requires climbing a staircase.

The cost of the group is $425. Before officially joining, potential group members will need to complete an intake with me to ensure they are a good fit for the group and that they are prepared for the group. I'm happy to offer this consultation free of charge. Note that this group is designed to supplement individual therapy rather than be a standalone treatment.

This group is led by a therapist, but it is not a therapy group. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
